It's been a long time size I used v5, but wasn't there a fade in and a fade out time in that version? There are some work arounds using the envelope, but I'd love to see a fade in and a fade out time, maybe an advanced mode for the transition dropdown menu? You might move this to feature requests so...

Use the pallet mode to create a looping color pallet you want then add the slide fx.
Edwin also added a new "size" param to the circular gradient so this is uber helpful for animating those types of gradients as well now. Happy Festivus!
