Hi all, total Resolume beginner here.
I have a DDJ 1000SRT and I use Serato.
I would like to use projection mapping for some visuals, that's why I am looking into Resolume. The Serato Video plugin is pretty bare bones.
Here is what I believe would be the ideal setup for me:
1. One computer runs Serato and is connected to my DJ Controller
2. Another computer runs Resolume and is connected to my projector.
3. When I crossfade into a new track, I would like to load a new deck in Resolume. I wouldn't even mind to press some button on my DJ Controller, if that just loads the next deck, that might already be good enough for my first baby steps. Big question here is, how do I make both computers speak to each other. I have seen threads where someone suggested that Serato should send MIDI signals to Resolume. How would that work? Are there special cables/hardware needed?
4. In this setup, I would also need a way to get the current BPM from Serato into Resolume. I have read that something called LINK can do this.
Just based on the workflow described above, I would be curious to hear if anyone has tips and could nudge me into the right direction.
I've spent hours on Google and Youtube, but I'm really not sure if what I want is even possible at all
I have found this video about a software called Showkontrol: https://youtu.be/O4gCq9AamxA -- the guy loads a bunch of tracks into Showkontrol and then puts events onto the waveform, these events will be sent as signals to Resolume and trigger all kinds of events in Resolume -- this looks almost exactly like what I would like to do, except, Showkontrol does not work with my DJ Controller even after watching that video I would still not be sure how Serato comes into play here. If anyone knows of any crazy software-stack that could do what Showcontrol does, I'd be all ears.
