Animation for clip speed value

Post by Zoltán »

I would like to have the same animation possibilities for the clip speed parameter as for the other parameters.

Interesting. You could accomplish some of this using a 3rd party timeline animation tool like Vezer.

The downsides I can think of would be:
-performance issues, especially when global speed is simultaneously being adjusted or greater than 1x
-unreliable transitions/crashes when auto-pilot is active and layer transition time is greater than zero
-weirdness with any parameters chasing 'Clip Position'

Speaking of Clip Position, there indeed would be some cool things if a clip's speed could be automatically adjusted by Resolume to match an effect parameter's duration from Min/Max when animated.

An example is using an otherwise generic clip with a stack of effects, where one of those parameters really defines the look. You spend forever getting the effect parameters to transition in and out to look good, then you want the clip duration to match up with the beginning and end.

If the feature was implemented as you imagine, what are some ways you would use it?

I know there is vezér, but it is for Mac only.

for example a clip transport set to random BPM, and speed set to timeline could make a video playback that changes playback speed on every beat.
or imagine that controlled by audio input

or you could make a video slowd own (to stop).ex. a moving background.

It would be really cool to see certain clips advance to the beat.
