Disney research presents: Botanicus InteracticusHOME!
Disneyresearch: Botanicus Interacticus is a technology for designing highly expressive interactive plants, both living and artificial. Driven by the rapid fusion of computing and living spaces, we take interaction from computing devices and places it in the physical world using livings plants as an interactive medium.
Botanicus Interacticus has a number of unique properties. This instrumentation of living plants is simple, non-invasive, and does not damage the plants: it requires only a single wire placed anywhere in the plant soil. Botanicus Interacticus allows for rich and expressive interaction with plants. It allows to use such gestures as sliding fingers on the stem of the orchid, detecting touch and grasp location, tracking proximity between human and a plant, and estimating the amount of touch contact, among others.
In Botanicus Interacticus we also deconstruct the electrical properties of plants and replicate them using standard electrical components. This allows the design of a broad variety of biologically inspired artificial plants that behave nearly the same as their biological counterparts. From the point of view of our technology there is no difference between real and artificial.
Botanicus Interacticus technology can be used to design highly interactive responsive environments based on plants, developing new forms of organic, living interaction devices as well as creating organic ambient and pervasive interfaces.

The Pianocade is a synthesizer designed to sound, look, and feel like vintage arcade games. It's easy for people who want to dive right in, powerful and feature-rich for people who want to tinker, and fun to play for everyone. With traditional 5-pin MIDI and USB MIDI, you can use the Pianocade to control other instruments, or use external sequencers and controllers to play the Pianocade.
All of the Pianocade hardware, firmware, and software is open source and designed for easy hackability. If you're really ambitious, build your own!
Pricing: One octave: $250CDN Two octaves: $325CDN Electronics only: $100CDN

Our products feature high-quality components, chosen for their responsiveness, durability and feel in custom designed enclosures.
In the custom shop we will work with you to spec out, design, and code your "ultimate performance controller". We offer sliders and knobs of varying sizes and resistances, different styles of quality pushbuttons, toggle switches, and LED's as well jumpable controls such as touchstrips.
When ordering, you can expect excellence in craftsmanship down to the very last detail. Our enclosures are made from solid hard woods, aluminum, and acrylics Additional artwork and labeling can be airbrushed on by one of our local artists or custom graphics can be screenprinted on top. Each of our models are hand-built and inspected by our team, and includes a MIDI editor/performance application that is individually programmed for each controller.
All this adds up to a toatally personalized performance tool that will inspire and liberate the user.
General unItOne was designed with Ableton Live in mind but the format is sufficiently generic to be successful with any DAW. The layout was conceived as 8 channel strips (the 32 blue encoders and the buttons below them), 3 return tracks (the 12 yellow encoders), a master section (the 4 red encoders) and also a transport section on the right hand side. The return tracks double-up as a DJ mixer when used with the crossfader, for example as a 3 channel EQ with gains.
Build your own unItOne! Most parts are from RS Components. Parts lists are available NOW for £25. Kits of raw parts for home assembly can be arranged by discussion. The full cost of the parts for the model shown is about £900 excluding sales taxes. Please contact me for further details using the contact link at the bottom of the page.
If you want a custom controller built for you, please get in touch with your ideas and we can discuss them, but read the small print below before you get too excited.
