Windows 10 Video Clip Audio Issue 5.1.3

Post by CollynsLD »

I have a set of clips that i'm trying to play through arena, however, when I import them into Resolume on a windows 10 machine, the audio does not import, There's no waveform above the timeline. When i import a wav file, the clip will play the audio, i can drag and drop audio on other video clips.

It's there a way to rip the audio apart from the video and play them separately?

If i do the same process on an OSX machine the audio imports perfectly and the clip plays just fine. This would be great, but i need to use the windows machine for the show. The Mac is already doing something else.

I have quick time installed.

Anyone have a fix for this anomaly?

you need to have the audio stream in the video file to be uncompressed wave for maximum compatibility.

you can either re-encode the files to dxv, with uncompressed audio,
or you can convert just the audio files, to wav, then either place the wav files on a separate layer
or you can join the video stream and the audio stream in resolume to one clip simply by dragging the audio file onto the video clip.

I just discovered this same issue in testing. I have two identical machines, same version of all OS/Software.

One machine imports the same file, a DXV3 with audio, just fine, the other machine ignores the files audio. Trying to trace down where it's coming from.

In further testing -

If I encode the file as separate video and audio files, then attach the audio file to the video file by dragging it on top of the video file, the performance isn't great. If I play them as separate files, then performance is fine.

I went through both machines and looked at all installed apps and they both have the same things installed: VLC Player, Adobe Media Encoder, Quicktime 7, DXV3 codec for Quicktime, Arena V5.1.2 and 5.1.3.

I also did some test encodes:
I used a Beeple clip off of Vimeo, as an MP4, I converted it to:
- A DXV3 with Audio (audio set to uncompressed 48k)
- A DXV3 without audio
- A WAV File.

Not sure what would cause one machine to see the audio that is embedded into the file vs the other not.

Are there any thoughts why this would happen? I'm assuming it's because we need something installed - like a codec or such - but. It sure what. Been experimenting but can't seem to find the answer. Thanks.

The only time when I've had this, was when Quicktime was not installed.

Although you mention Quicktime being installed, I recommend to re-install it, just to make sure.

If you like, you can always send us the file so we can take a look if there's something peculiar about it.

We have the same issue with Resolume (only tested 5.1.2-5.1.4),

uncompressed or aac inside .mov / dxv is not recognized by many machines (QT reinstalled many times)

Workaround is a seperate wav File drawn into the mov-clip, but then performance is sluggish.

Having the same issue, audio works on my windows 10 laptop, but doesn't show on a windows 7 machine.
It would be great to know the fix for this.

Hello!
Apparently I have the same problem.
On my Windows 10 computer I can play a mp4 file and listen to the audio.
On windows 7 computer the audio track does not appear.

Same version of Resolume, same mp4 file.
I have already checked all the settings and reinstalled the software.
