Resolume 4.1 Released!
We rarely are as excited about an update as we are about this one. Resolume 4.1 comes guns blazing with new additions to the arsenal, and shows everyone there's a new sheriff in town. So strap on your boots and put on your cowboy hat, because here we go!
By popular demand we added masking and cropping to the Advanced Output of Arena.
Syphon is now natively supported on MacOSX. No more mucking about with 3rd party plugins. Just enable it via the preferences and check them thumbnails!
You can drop the bass like Paris with the new AV example set by Dan Wise.
With the new Layer Router you can now create a clip that takes the input from any layer below. For instance you can take layer 1 and and display it again as layer 4 but perhaps smaller or with a different effect. This is also really handy to create picture in picture compositions. Because the world needs more picture in picture effects.
This is a long wish come true. Like, over 10 year wish come true. Ever since Composite Station, we wanted to have a Japanese version of Resolume, and now that dream has finally come true. Konichiwa, Resolume-san! Thanks to the Projection Mapping Association of Japan.
Besides that of course there's a bunch of improvements to help improve your workflow and the ever important bug fixes. Check the full list below, or head over the download page: http://www.resolume.com/download/

...In Germany we would say:
Comment from Shorties:Ahhh this is so awesome. I'm loving the features of the native syphon support. Congrats Resolume team on another awesome release!
Comment from vj granda:Thanks Resolume Team. Now R4 is in another level...
Comment from subvert:cosmowe... PLEASE! NEIN!
Comment from cosmowe:hahaha...I tried to find the "I Like" button from your post....no luck so far.
Comment from theLABVisuals:Excellent work to all! You've squashed a majority of my personal annoyancies with 4.0.1. Cheers!
Comment from GuruMeditation:Tony
Is there a way to zoom in in the advanced output window ?
Comment from pupdogg:When u have a lot of slice in a big screen (triple head for example...), it is just impossible to manage correctly.
Also, point magnetism like in IRmapio would be great !
Can u please please please incorporate audio to MIDI clock feature similar to Wavesum products right into Resolume? That would be awesome!
Comment from pfelberg:congrats!!
Comment from HerrNieDa:you can move the selected points with the keyboard-cursor... not the same workflow like ir-mapio but it's quiet more exact that way for me! Comment from meerkat82:
Is audio fft linked to timeline still on your to do list?
Comment from dirtyjohn_lv:The new advanced output broke strobing for me. If I select a screen without advanced output color will pass through, but when selecting advanced output I cant strobe color
Comment from Joris:Confirmed and ticket made. Thanks for letting us know.
Yes.
We've actually had a chat with Wavesum about this, but it wasn't in the cards. Comment from VJsynC:
Still, one of the most important and may i said requested issue wasn't solved!!! the deck/library management!
Comment from Straight-Disorder:is still inefficient! not rearranged alphabetically or by any other criteria unless the last deck saved (witch in theory works fine but on the job is useless) and/or the lack of space missing for the separators on the bottom of layers when all the decks are opened!
me and other users that have a huge file structure still struggle to use this new versions (since res3) because of that.
since the very first version of res3 that we are asking for an efficient deck management! this is not fair!
youpiyoupiyaya!!!
Comment from Basic:we looked forward to this update!!!
thanks, I'll try that right away
Any reason for this Joris?
tbh i hadnt heard of wavesum until i read this post. Had a look, downloaded then tried the demo. Interesting little app but i found it couldn't quite keep up with certain styles of music and seemed a little sluggish. Still i want to do a little more testing and maybes it was how i had it set up. Pricey too for what it is? Some people swear by it still. Comment from Joris:
Resolume would become more expensive, for a feature that is not essential for everybody. We decided to keep the price down as much as possible. If people really want to have this functionality, they can get the WaveSum app. Comment from Basic:
Yeah good point, it does seem to be a little on the pricey side and its easy to route too so being standalone isnt much of an issue. Thanks again dude
Comment from vjsmad:hi bart and edwin great works as usual but i really dont understand the way you choose to add mask feature.
Comment from VJsynC:For me the logical thing is to do it the same way than in after effect , you draw the mask and you see what is inside the mask not outside ! so maybe you could add an invert mask fonction. Good thing should be to have smooth edge on the mask ( as after effect too )
thanks
Any news about this issue? an old issue... Comment from skulpture:
I agree, I just had this problem today actually. Comment from Joris:
@Skulpture and VJSmad: if you want to see what is inside the mask, use a crop. Mask can be turned into crops and vice versa.
Comment from Joris:@VJSynC: I'm sorry to hear it is proving so difficult for you to run a show without the ability to change the order of the decks. The ticket for this feature request is still open, but has been given low priority as the majority of users seem to be okay with how things are.
@Skulpture and VJSmad:
Comment from Godzil:I've created a new topic for your specific issues: viewtopic.php?f=12&t=9630
A4.1.0 and 4.1.1 crashes few second after loading composition. I don't even have time to send feedback.
Comment from samwab:the same composition running smooth on A4.0.1. what can be the problem?
For anyone who has the same problem as Godzil, as I did at the last gig I did, the problem is likely to be one or two files in the composition. Open up 4.0.1, change to a different composition or create a new one, save and quit, and 4.1.1 should open up again.
In my case I narrowed it down to a "Lines" quartz composer patch that I had added into the composition (if I remember correctly). I don't know why but 4.1.1 wouldn't load this file.
