Re: New to Resolume Arena

Technology is moving to 4k and its not always about the fact its does 4k. It also has longer runs and convenience. I'm not sure why I'd want to invest in old tech even if I had to settle for 1080p devices. Its not like its not signal compatable and DP costs nothing to the consumer or the manufacture...

Re: Dual Graphics Cards?

I think I might have spoke too soon and made some errors about the DP generation. I have yet to get my hands on a 1080. However I did read some guy got 8 outputs to work using some MST combination. But I would not write the technology off and I stand by my opinion of DVI. It is inferior and a matter...

Re: External GPU

Sorry, are you saying you have tried an external GPU solution? Not sure how thermal throttling factors in here... If anything, an external GPU would help with heat since the system GPUs would be (in theory) not used. It's not about the GPU heating the system directly and I do not own one. But the c...

Re: Dual Graphics Cards?

I'm working on an installation that requires 7 outputs (6 Projectors @ 1920x1080 +1 monitor). System specs: MSI X99A SLI (quad), Intel Core i7-5820K Haswell-E 6-Core 3.3 GHz, 128 GB DDR5, 512 GB M.2 Gen 3 X4 (samsung 950 pro). I'm looking to upgrade the video card. I'm currently using the ATI HD 78...

Re: 10x 1024x768 output with 2x Nvidia nvs 810

I'd get a 980ti gtx (or better) with a nvs 810 if they are going to be in the same machine. Two 980's does nothing for you if you have a nvs as an option. My question is how bad does the fps get when you start connecting up displays to the nvs. I'm curious if money wasn't a issue how running a 980ti...

Re: New to Resolume Arena

@ Digi, have you used this before? Also I'm not sure what you mean by DVI is crap. Yes I have one, but what I mean by dvi is crap is: DVI can only drive 2560 x 1600 @ 60hz Only one video stream Short runs Display port 1.2 can drive 4k @ 60hz Better color Multible video streams Much much longer runs...

Re: External GPU

Yes, if the mac book doesn't thermal throttle because they have terrible cooling.

Razer core any day before I'd pull the trigger on a mac solution.

Re: Could this setup be enough for a permanent installation?

If you can swing the price get a 1080 for display port. Sli doesn't work with resolume that's another reason to go for a 1080. 2 cards in general actually performs worse then 1 card and has been verified by support. AMD kinda is on it's butt atm.

Re: New to Resolume Arena

In terms of video processor, doesn't the 980 have THREE display ports. I know it's not some super officially adopted 1.5-2k usd "datapath" but this actually does work. http://www.evga.com/articles/00815/

Welcome to the era of dvi is crap.

Re: Multiple Graphics Cards For More Outputs

I've tested this a LOT actually and you loose FPS by running another card just to use it's outputs. It's a pit fall of about double the loss in fps when adding a output to the card. For example if I add a 1080p output I loose 3 fps per HD device I add. If I use a second video card for outputs I loos...
