Re: Hardware for MacBook Pro M1 6 projectors

I have used the Quad Head 2 Go, worked out of the box in a 2x2 configuration. It appears to the system as a single 4k display, outputs 4x HD displays. You can hook up an Ethernet cable and configure it in more detail, but we never did that. Just plugged it in. No drivers, no software. It was trivial...

Re: Sensors?

I can think of many ways to do this. Not sure there is anything directly off the shelf. You will probably need something like Chataigne or Touch Designer to mediate between the sensor and Resolume. How accurate does it need to be, and how far will the piece of scenery be travelling? One approach is ...

Re: Native support new Apple M1 Max chips

It's an M1 Max. One monitor via USB C directly, one via HDMI directly, and another via a USB C to HDMI adapter. I still have a free USB C port, so maybe could add another monitor that way. The laptop is drawing power from the USB C monitor, which is incredibly convenient. (The monitor has a 210W PSU...

Re: NDI not working as source on Intel iMac running Monterey

Have you tried this?

In Settings / Security & Privacy / Screen Recording, make sure to add the NDI Scan Converter. Those permissions seem to get reset when you updated MacOS or update NDI.

Re: Input Device Benchmarks

Yes! I was quite pleasantly surprised by the performance of a $20 BlueAVS dongle. It just... worked. Hi. Anyone have tried Elgato on resolume? I haven't. The cheaper Elgato stuff is just a more expensive rebrand of the mass produced Chinese stuff out there (Atomos also does this). And those devices ...

Re: Input Device Benchmarks

I tried a couple of different (cheap) HDMI -> USB capture cards. I tried going from a Mac (M1 Macbook Pro) to PC and vice versa. Method was to run a simple millisecond counter in Max MSP on the source, capture the video, and show it on the receiver. Take a picture and subtract the value on receiver ...

Re: Native support new Apple M1 Max chips

3x 4K outputs with 6 layers gives 40fps, 34% CPU utilization. This time the fan actually turned on. I built a single large composition, and used slice transform to send each group of 6 layers to each screen. So 18 x 4k clips are playing. The sense I get is that the CPU is certainly more powerful tha...

Re: Native support new Apple M1 Max chips

FWIW optimization for M1 seems to make a big difference. I ran the WebGL Aquarium test: https://webglsamples.org/aquarium/aquarium.html 1024 x 1024 resolution, 30 000 fish. On an i7 PC with RTX 2070 using Google Chrome, easy 29-30 fps though with sporadic, brief drops to 13 fps (thanks Windows), abo...

Re: Native support new Apple M1 Max chips

I'll give that a shot! We have a bunch of 4k monitors at work. Yeah, I just got a MacBook Pro with the M1 Max chip, and my experience tracks with the other comments on this thread. The benchmark comp at 4k on an external 4k display was giving me all 20 layers clean at 89 fps and 20 layers noise at 8...
