strange behavior in layers and video mapping

Post by stikmanlabs »

Would love to find an answer to explain this behavior in the video mapper:

I am attempting to create individual video maps for each layer in resolume

layer 1: Clip 1 shows up in the center location in the video mapper
layer 1: Clip 2 in the video mapper is off center and any attempt to resize or move is not effected in the video mapper unless i switch from layer 1 as source to composition.

attempting to attach pictures is failing so hopefully my description is accurate enough will try to figure out why I can't upload

I can´t say that I understood exactly what you meant, so just two cents here:
- check your layers´ positions. Don´t forget layers can be moved as well;
- if you wish one slice per layer you don´t need moving layers, as suggested above, as well. All video will be overlayed as all slices will also be in the input selection window. You reposition slices in the Output Transformation window.
Important note: layers are not routed to slices by layers´names or numbers, BUT ORDER!!!

so to explain more clearly:

I have a pixel map canvas size of 8016x1080

some of my video content is full resolution and is mapped to screens a certain way

some of my other content is standard hd res and is mapped to specific screens on stage but not the entire stage

in the photo examples both clips are position x and y at 0 and anchor x y z at 0
when i click each clip inside resolume it shows up in my playback monitor in center position - where it defaults too and where i want it to be for the mapping to work

The issue is when you open up the advanced video mapping tool you will see that in example 1 the clip is in the middle but on example 2 the clip is all the way left. If I set the slice source as composition it works as hoped but when i try to select the actual layer the clip exists on then the strangeness happens.

It gets weirder because if I drop in 10 clips 8 will be centered and work as expected but clip 9 will be off center and size and 10 will be the same but in a different spot. Also the issue tends to follow the clip so even if i reload the clip it still shows that behavior. IF i drag it to another layer the problem follows clip. Very bazzar.

My guess is that there´s something applied to the clip on it´s properties. And that´s saved with the composition.
Have you tried deleting the clip from the composition and loading a fresh instance of it?
Simple as that.

Thanks for your insights!

I have deleted clips, reloaded clips, moved to other layers, loaded multiple instances.

I would agree that it seems as if some value seems to be embedded into the properties of the clip however where it would be and what it would be seems to escape me

also when i switch source to composition from layer the problem resolves itself

This is a wild guess, but what sort of GPU do you have in your machine?

Well, that should work. What codec is the content?
