Audio/video DXV clip not playing correctly

Post by bdeschryver »

Hello everyone,

I have some trouble with DXV clips with audio track that do not play correctly in resolume Arena 4.1.3.
If I play the clip generated without any audio track, it run fine.
The same clip generated with audio track (uncompressed audio) does not run correctly: the image is going one frame per second or so (very slow) and the audio sounds terrible, like a buzz/robotic sound with echo (difficult to describe!).

Any idea why ?

I could play some correctly two days ago and now it does not works anymore.
The only thing I did in between was testing on an HDMI output and then playing with audio setting of resolume trying to fix the problem (now back to default settings).

Thanks

PS: Config: Dell Precision M4800

Have you checked your Timeline transport mode set to make sure it's not set to BPM instead of Timeline?

If so, change it to Timeline and you should be back to normal.

Also, you might want to check your preferences to make sure the BPM is not the preferred mode if you'd rather have Timeline as the default mode when you import a video clip

Worth a try!

Are all your video clips playing slow now or just the one with audio?

other clips without audio play correctly. I have the same clip with or without audio (I did both during generation with Premiere Pro). The one without audio plays smoothly and nothing to say. The one with audio shows the symptoms...

Maybe reinstalling the codec would help?

try changing the audio buffer size when set to low or high this causes the robotic sound, (for me only 2048 works good)
and be sure to have the correct output selected.
you can try asio directx divers for onboard audio, it handles the buffer size different.

you can try to separate the video and audio, drag your clip twice into the composition, on one delete the video track, on the other delete the audio.

are you sure, the HDD can read the file fast enough?

you can check the Windows audio settings too, like you say output was switched to hdmi.
sample rate should be the same as in resolume, and the same as your files.
disable sound card exclusive mode.

i use a Dell vostro and i had difficulties with audio drivers from dell, sometimes the audio quality on low audio levels changed , like it was going to mono and 8khz, now using the stock win7 drivers, and it runs more stable.

you can try to manually delete resolume config file, to be sure to get back to installation defaults.

I agree with ravensc. Check the buffer size and backup then delete the config file. I had a strange problem with mapping not working out of the blue. After I deleted the config file it worked perfect.

Hey guys,

I could solve the problem ! Thanks to you for the tips !
Here is what I did:
- reinstalled Resolume (probably not the solution but I did)
- played some clips with audio, worked perfect!
Then I tried to reproduced what I did which caused the problem:
- connected to HDMI output --> no sound anymore as it goes to the HDMI display (display only in my case)
- changed the audio setting in resolume to use the integrated audio on buildin speakers --> buffer size changed automatically to 96 !!!!
--> I changed back to primary sound driver : buffer size stays at 96 --> problem !

So this was the reason: the buffer size changed without noticing the first time and then no matter which sound driver I selected, the playback was crap...

Thanks again for helping !
