Having Lots of Difficulties on Editing DXV3 Files on Vegas

Post by pfelberg »

Hi everyone.
It is just like the subject while running Vegas Pro 12 or 13. Creating DXV3 files isn´t the problem. They seem OK.
But, loading DXV3 files back into vegas for editing/mixing with other content IS.
It doesn´t happen with all DXV3 files, but some. Vegas denies visibility, playing, placing on video track and after all, lots and lots of freezing.
I guess I´ll be having this kind of problem from now on for a while.

What other original format would you suggest me to use for previous editing/mixing before final export to DXV3?
Yes, I need the Alpha channel available. DXV2? Animation?

tks!!!

I had similar issues in vegas with dxv2, but you could try.

DXV2 was never an issue to me on Vegas.
But I think I read somewhere close ago that they do not recommend re encoding DXV2 files to DXV3.
Tks anyway.

re-encoding dxv2 to dxv3, quality wise you would not gain benefits from it.
If you still have the source material, then dxv3 will have a better quality on the high setting than dxv2.

I may be a DumbNoob and even though I don't know Vegas, I think it's a safe bet to assume that DXV (2 or 3) is not designed to be an editing codec. As noted above, go back to your source material. Edit that in Vegas then output your result as DXV.

Sure thing.
But the fact is that I had created several clips using DXV3. For this project I had no idea on how I would use them, when I realized I would have to place parts together, mix, whatever, before even sending to Resolume.
I´d never guess that would be a problem, since that never happened before with DXV2.

Could you send us one of the files you are having problems with, Pfelberg?

I have deleted them all.
I recreated all clips using "animation" codec and Vegas just got fluid as allways. Went to DXV3 just before going to Resolume.
I will try to recreate the issue and then send the file.

tks

I've actually had this same problem with After effects. I can code them as dxv3 just fine. But if I need to load a file sent to me as dxv3 into after effects its a no go.

Could you send us one of the files and let us know what you mean by 'no go', Cozer?
