BMD MIniRecorder delay

Post by Ladin »

Hi guys.. Is there anyone who owns a BM Minirecorder card (PCIE)?
I have read some posts here in forum, and saw a videos, where were latency (or delay) about 2 - 3 frames (which is acceptable - or awesome) with Blackmagic Devices (not minirecorder cards).. But, in my case (connecting camera directly via HDSDI) is delay about 5 - 6 frames on output (same as in Resolume preview or program window).. Doesn´t matter if it´s in 720p or 1080i.. No up/down conversion, no effects, connected directly to the card (without videomixer)..
It makes me sad..
My rig is not too slow (I guess) - Xeon E3 1246, 16 gigs of ram, NV GTX970, SSD..
Any ideas, help, or anyone with that card to compare??

Thanks a lot..

L.

In my experience the DeckLink Mini Recorder PCI card has very little latency. About as good as you can expect. Are you running the latest BM software and drivers?

Yes, using blackmagic desktop video 10.4 and drivers for NV card ver. 347.88.. Camera is Panasonic HPX-371..
But, I also have a AverMedia game broadcaster HD, and it looks almost same.. If I connect laptop by HDMI to BM minirecorder - same.. Is there any possibility, that some setting in nvidia control panel (it is in default) causes this problem?? Or setting in motherboard bios?? Something like PCI latency timer or...?

Thx..

Have you had a chance to test your camera on something else to make sure the latency doesn't come from there?

Yes, camera connected directly to monitor - no lag. With Diventix II (or another mixers or switchers from analogway company), almost no lag. Connected to my rig with resolume - about 6 - 7 frames.. Same with laptop via HDMI.. Makes me crazy..

Try to change videocard settings, disable triple buffering, turn off vsync.
Your XEON has internal graphics, compare results with different graphic cards - Nvidia vs Intel.
Your monitor can add delay if it has some post processing, try some basic cheap LCD.
