Opening R5 comps in R6

Post by VJ EyeSauce »

Perhaps I'm missing something.
Does R6 support older comps?
I've bought a few vj packs from DocOptic (I believe you've partnered with them on your tutorial videos) that are Generative visuals. They won't load.

Also, I can't seem to have clips scale or change opacity via sound.

Hopefully, I'm just missing a step somewhere along the way!

Thank you!

Old comps will load but with the move to 64 bit a lot of effects didn't get ported. In the closed beta doc optic talked about how a lot of his packs don't work during release.

So far only Particles, Snow and Sparkles have not been ported.

They didn't work during beta, and Edwin has been using them to test the conversion. They work on the release.

In general, your old R5 comps should just open fine now. If you have an R5 composition that does not open using the 6.0.0 release version, we'd love to get our hands on it.

Pixels in Space has also not been ported. Unfortunately a lot of our generative clips were created with these legacy effects, so we recommend only using them in R4/5.

This is true. You can now open our generative compositions in R6, but compatibility isn't 100%. Some of the interface/dashboard changes have also affected how they work. If the older effects do get ported, we'll definitely consider working on releasing an update for R6.

Updated two different systems with R6 rev. 60521, one notebook, one desktop, one running win 8.1 and the other win 10.
I am still unable to load R5 compositions. Zero decks.

Solved!!

Instead of copying R5 compositions to the R6 documents/compositions/ directory, just use the menu Composition/Open... from inside Resolume.

Thanks Daniel.
