No preset for effects

Post by stagehand632 »

Hey Guys, loving R6 now but had a quick question. Im not seeing any of the presets I had made for my effects in R5. I copied to the right folder, not sure why this would not work? Also the stock one are gone too.

The preset file format has changed so copying them won't work.
Dropping them to a composition in R5 and opening this composition in R6 should have the effects with thesame settings, and you could save your presets in R6.

Factory effect presets are a low priority now.
If you create some nice looking presets, you could share it on the forum.
We could have a forum topic for user presets.

I opened my R5 comps in 6 and the effect setting get stripped out. The effect is there but all my setting for it are changed!!!!

This is very disappointing, I had a lot of presets i made over the years and now i have to make them all from scratch again. Not happy  At least if we still had the factory presets it would save me some time recreating them. Also why is it in the R6 manual it shows presets in the effects? Did something change that you decided to strip them out?

Which effects are these, and which settings of the effects?

If you could share both the v5 and v5 comp files, that would save us all a lot of going back and forth in the forum. Then we can spend that time solving the problem.

Shift RGB is one of the effects with presets missing.

I can confirm this as well; the stock effect presets that came with Resolume 5 are not available in Resolume 6. For example, "twitch" used to have several types of "twitches" to select from, now the effect doesn't have any. Shift RGB is another example that used to have default effects of "Acid Trip, Just good" etc but now these aren't available at all.

All my compositions that were made in R5 open in R6 just fine but the effects do not have their presets.

On Resolume 6.0.2, all the stock effect presets are bundled with the installer.

When doing a fresh install, the presets are installed automatically.

When updating an earlier version of 6, you'll want to copy the preset folder from Applications (Mac) or Program Files (PC) /Resolume 6/default/Presets/Video Effects to Documents/Resolume 6/Presets/Video Effects

Want to update your own user presets from 5 to 6? Just load them as effect clips in 5, select all the clips and copy/paste to 6, then save them as presets again. Copying the v5 preset files themselves will not work.
