16 cameras, Play all clips in one layer

Post by lin »

Doing a design for video wall with 16 camera inputs. Really no video mixxing, each camera should display on a different spot on the video wall. If a camera does not have info or is unwanted a advertising video clip file would be dragdrop in its place.

I know I can put each camera on a different layer but that means a lot of scrolling in layer GUI and also all those layers are confusing to customer. The customer staff will operate Resolume not a Resolume expert.

I would like to put all 16 cameras on one layer (each camera source clip at different x/y position) and have all clips in the layer play at the same time.

If having all clips in one layer playing is not possible, can you suggest another design that is easy for regular customer staff to control?

This sounds like a painful project, how are you getting your 16 cameras into Resolume to start with?

I think you’ll end up having to use 16 layers.

One way or another; you will have to use 16 layers. If that is not an option for you, I'm not sure if Resolume is the best option for this job.

But you might want to look into column triggering and automatically triggering every layer on startup. Because this whole thing is easier than you might think.

One option would be to have all your camera inputs in layer 1 and set all your clips to Target>Free Layer. But that won't give you very precise control as to where each clip will end up in your wall.

17 Layers
Layer 1 - 16 with 1 Camera (all running) / Opacity 0
Layer 17 with "16 Layerrouter-Clips" to switch between cameras

i've worked with 6 cameras with this solution (R4/R5)

In this setup it would be cool to have the option to collapse Layers ;)
