Resolume 6.1 on Mojave .. Problem!

Post by marachas »

hello format my macbook pro 2017 ..
[2.9 ghz core i7
16gb ram
Amd radeon pro 560 4gb vram]

.. to Osx Mojave and install only Resolume 6 latest version
- register my version .. and open activity monitor ..
Is it normal for the gpu to work so hard?
if only it is a composition 1280 x 720px!
Captura de pantalla 2018-10-14 a la(s) 19.36.12.png
after two days I had a corporate event, I worked with a composition 2560 x 1152px
the videos were rendered at that resolution and at 30fps from premiere to dxv 3.0.1

When releasing a single clip the resolume fps were 60fps, normal ..! ?
but when launching two layers with the same clip and a Blackmagic mini thunderbolt capture, the fps went down to 36 - 45fps
the image was not fluid .. (something like stop motion)

I do not think this is normal
I am doing something wrong?
Is it mojave or Resolume problem?
someone solution's..?

I see you are either running on battery, or are charging while this happens.
Could you check if the same happens with a fully charged battery and power plugged in?

Could you also check the CPU and GPU frequency with the Intel power gadget when this happens?

I have the same kind of macbook pro with 6.1 and it runs great so I'm wondering what's causing your problems!

In your recording you have 60FPS with 2 layers running and also with Resolume not playing.

Did the GFX frequency go from 0 to something in the intel power gadget when you started the screen recording/quicktime or when you launched Resolume?
Because in the screenshots it's on 0.

If mojave does some strange power management, that would explain this.
Try switching off automatic graphics switching in the OSX Power management settings.
That should always keep your dedicated GPU working.

You could use GFXcardStatus to check which GPU is being used currently, and if you enable Show display info in the output menu in Resolume, and switch on an output, you also should see your dedicated GPU in the info text on your output.
