Resolume 6, what have you done?

In Resolume 5 I can control anything I want on my desk. I do not need to apply any DMX shortcuts to control Resolume from my Chamsys desk.

In Resolume 6 it appears that you have to add a DMX shortcut to anything you have programmed in to make it work. WTF??? This is a completely stupid idea and adds potentially hours of extra programming.

It's the auto map right? Bring it back for Resolume 6.

Somebody woke up grumpy!

Most people love the new way of working, you don’t have dozens If not hundreds of unused channels potentially catching you unawares.

Arena 6 = Flexible. Automap = inflexible

And I'm still grumpy.

When you say Arena 6 = flexible, I'm afraid I disagree. Yes, there are lots more features, but not having a DMX map is dumb from the point of view of someone programming from a desk. When I program lights into my desk, they work. I don't have to tell them how to work after I have programmed them in. I don't have to tell a fader that it is a fader.

Of course I will look into this over the next week.

The way out of this, on a Chamsys, is to load as Resolume 5, even if you are using 6. Or program as resolume 5 and then morph to 6 - keeps the map.

I regularly program from a desk, and didn’t use half of the random stuff the auto map used to patch.

I put a little bit of work in to create my own head file, now I simply patch as many of those as I need. No extra time on site (apart from the first time when I created the head file).

Imagine doing that for every new light that comes on the market! That is why there are dedicated individuals at place like Chamsys who manage all These personalities.
Yes, it's good to have the choice, but I'd rather it was the other way round...

hey is there a step by step guide in getting resolume areana 6 to work with chamsys. videos online are not great. i know its possible but theres a step or 2 im missing.
