Resolume 5 and Enttec DMX USB Pro MK2

Post by blabberbytes »

Im trying to connect my MK2 to resolume, and have done so in the past with my macbook pro, but its not being recognized by resolume 5. It is however being reconized by Pro-manager and i am able to send dmx signals. Any thoughts?

Enttec DMX devices can be hard to get working. That's why we're not supporting them any more from version 6.

You'd need a specific combination of the drivers, OSX, and Resolume version to get them working.

So I spoke with Enttec and they said it might be a conflicting driver with resolume. This what he said:

" It's just that it's possible that Resolume requires different drivers than Pro Manager, and subsequently our software. If they can specify the driver necessary, I will try to help you get it installed."

Any idea of what the drivers are so he can better help me? I've attached my system info if that helps. Thanks

I'd recommend to go out from Resolume via Art-net, and convert to 3/5 wire DMX with an external box, like the Enttec ODE mk2
It would be future proof, and a lot more flexible.

I've found this in an email from 2015...
Long ago, we used Apple's d2xx drivers drivers to connect to Enttec devices. This was confusing to a lot of users, because Enttec themselves said to use a different driver set. So we changed it. We were in sync. Things were good. It was a happy time.

Then, around the release of Mavericks. Apple decided to only allow their own set of drivers, and disable all apps using their own drivers. This included Enttec. Enttec didn't know what to do for the longest time. Even their own website still says the USB Pro will not work on El Capitan. But, when you download Pro-Manager, it says their devices are now working with Apple's own drivers on OSX. For us, this means we have to go back to our old code.
So looks like there was some driver changes going on in Resolume versions around that time.
Version 5.0.2 and above should use the Com drivers, as I understand.
You can get the installer here: https://resolume.com/download/files?fil ... taller.dmg

We added support for revB devices with 5.1.0. You can get the installer here: https://resolume.com/download/files?fil ... taller.dmg

The latest one is 5.1.4: https://resolume.com/download/files?fil ... taller.dmg

I hope this helps!
