Shuffling Displays - Windows 10 - Arena 6

Post by mkbMW »

For the last several years, from Arena 5 to Arena 6 and over several Video Cards I have had this issue arise at different times and have tried several things to solve this.
We have 5 (1080p) projectors and the main display, for a total of 6 display outputs. This was stable for a time, but at some point the display outputs started shuffling. (We are required to unplug everything and move the computer to another room during the day and setup again each show).

In order to simplify the number of display outputs we installed a 4 output, 4k video card (NVIDIA Quadro P4000 - PNY) and now only run 3 display outputs. We still run the same 5 projectors from two display outputs as well as the computer display as the third output.
By using two "Blackmagic Design Mini Converter Quad SDI to HDMI 4K" we take 2 4k outputs and split the quadrants through the quad SDI box so that we can route four 1080p quadrants to the projectors and get the signals to the projectors that we need.

That all said, the display outputs within Windows 10 were stable, not shuffling, once we implemented this new setup and it seemed our headache was over... for a time.

Now the display outputs want to shuffle again and its always when we boot Resolume Arena 6 that our main display turns black.

Anyone have advice on how to fix the shuffling displays?

If you unplug the computer and plug it again it allways will be some "shuffle" happen.

For unplugging and replugging outsputs ( displays) there are edid minders so the computer allways think there is a display conected and dont lose the connection and so dont start to reorder any of the other outputs.

But if you want to carry the computer somewere and dont have a rack with edid minders and maybe some more aditional stuff. (+ dont turn the computer off.) You wont have any sucess with edid minders.
