Live video into Res 7 2019 iMac

Post by illumn8r »

Hi, using 2019 iMac and the newest Arena, we are a concert venue who just bought a video wall. We have an HD remote Sony camera that sends a feed of the show out to the bar, a feed goes to an AJA box that sends HDMI to my monitor so I can see where to focus the camera.

I bought a 1 into 2 HDMI splitter, took the feed from the AJA to the splitter and sent one to the monitor which continues to work fine. I took the other feed through and HDMI to USB-C cable and connected it to the Mac. It doesn't show up under sources though.

How can I get this to work? :-)

a simple hdmi -usb-c cable dont work this way ;)

just becouse the plugs fit dont mean it is working....

you need a capture device to convert the video signal to either a data signal ( usb) or an IP based signal (ndi i.e.)

Start learning and start reading.

Well at least you answered, although condescendingly. I AM reading, and trying to learn, and asking questions such as here.

Trying to not throw our owner's money away. Although I can get refunds from Amazon at least.

Just bought this "Capture Card" that arrives Monday and we'll see.

I didnt want to be rude in the first post.

But when there is something basic you want to do with the software and you have a problem and do a forum post instead of a super quick view into the support page or training stuff, then a lot of ppl wont invest any time into reply.

Yes, I read that, but, as I said, I was coming out of an AJA box SD to HDMI and it wasn't working, so I was looking for more info

The $20 "Capture Card" above seems to work fine.
