i told a friend with an nvida card to try http://www.driverheaven.net/nvmodtool.php and it seemed to get his output working, it might be worth a shot if you have a mobile nvida card. :)
What is the NVidia Modder supposed to do?

it mods desktop drivers for your laptop, because most of the time laptop drivers never get updated enough.

What does "mods" mean though? Modifies in what way?

It modifies the "standard" ATI driver to recognize whatever slightly customized hardware a given laptop has, so that it will run.

Generally the laptop manufacturer will ask ATI to give them a part with a unique ID number, so that only the manufacturer's own driver (based on ATI) will run. However, the manufacturers often don't keep up with driver updates.

Where I say ATI, assume it applies to nVidia as well. The Omega drivers are a tweaked set of ATI and nVidia drivers that will run on pretty much all hardware.

Same problem here:
succeeded to get a still output, but the app hangs / have to terminate it thru task manager.
Hardware:
Laptop asus a8js
Win XP SP2
Nvidia 7700 ( 512 Mo ) with laptop manufacturer standard drivers
Tried with the standard demo footages.

Is that app reserved to mac/ATI owners?

No of course not, it just happens to run much better on a Mac. The funny thing is that most of the development is done on a Windows machine, but OSX just seems a more stable platform at the moment. And of course the OpenGL support of OSX is much better because their whole system uses it.
We are working hard on the NVIDIA problems, we want to support all different videocards of course.
We don't favour one platform above the other.

This problem seems to be not only one of Resolume 3. Today I was working on some MAX/MSP/Jitter stuff and I noticed that video the second screen was not working. Since Jitter uses OpenGL too I tried the option that helped with Resolume and it did also help in this case.

Maybe this of interest for finding a solution.
