multiple decks or single deck ?

Post by newfuturenow »

What do you prefer ? I personally use only one deck in my set up. Maybe thats because I VJ for only 1.5 hours at anytime with my usual live performance gig. Or maybe its because I am new to Resolume and dont know how to make use of its deck facility ? Be interesting to hear how many decks you use within a performance and for what reasons you do so . .

i use several decks, each one with a separate purpose. at first i only used one deck but now i have more grouped by style, format etc. i am usually doing it for a whole event rather for a band/dj so i'm doing it all night long, therefore one deck is kinda out of the question [except if you have a very long single deck]. but i really recommend using multiple decks; resolume has improved deck changing, i haven't experienced glitches when switching [on 2,2 core2duo, 512 mb ati 4570]

I've found switching decks to cause stuttering the output playback and take a pretty long time to get it's head together if you have more than 30 clips.
Until it becomes trouble free I'm sticking to a single deck.
