Slowing down randomly ...

Post by maximeh »

Hello,

I'm using avenue 3, with a PC running XP.
(GTS 250 - core 2 duo 3ghz)

One output of my graphic card is for a videoprojector. The other for a triplehead.
I try to run a 3200*600 composition, with 4 layers, 1 video per layer (DXV - 1 video = 600 Mo).

Randomly, Avenue is slowing down (5fps, and the HDD make a lot of noises), and then go back to normal (30-40fps).

(I've monitored my hdd with HDtunes:
min : 40.5 MB/s
max: 69.9 Mb/s
average: 62Mb/s
access time:13.2 ms)

Is there a way to change that ?
If I use a ssd just for the videos (XP and resolume still on the old HDD), would it be better ?

Thank you !

Since the HD is hard at work during those times, this does sound like it would be improved with an SSD.
