Greetings from Obamaland!

Your system just tanked! Little bits of hard drive came flying out the vents.
Here's your spiffy new super laptop. You have a show in two days.

What apps get loaded and why?

And damn, 3675 bucks for maya... Thats more than my ride cost.

I've been playing with blender for rendering
I use corel for static images
I've yet to find a NLE I like

haha yeah its expensive and one of the joys of being a student a free liecnse.

Blender from what i hear is the most popular 3d package and for free you can't argue :)

yeah the only NLE ive ever really liked is sony vegas. Im on mac atm but should be switching back at some point.

I like to keep my system clean. I dislike clutter :)

So let's rephrase it:
You have lost all your content and all backups of your content. You now have two days to prepare new material. Which apps get installed and why?

For me, two days would not begin to cover render times from Cinema or AE, so I would make a few decks in Resolume using the lines plugin and solid color sources with basic effects applied.

Then I would install Quartz Composer and XCode/OpenFrameworks to make generative material which can run in Resolume directly, or can be rendered to .mov in realtime.

Most of it would be very minimalistic, graphic material. It wouldn't be my best show ever, but in a bind, it would be doable.
