hi. i just need to add new card to my Rig any idea whats the best card from this two card from performance wise in resolume
A : NVIDIA Quadro M4000 8GB
B : NVIDIA GTX1080
currently now im using asus NVIDIA GTX 960 - ( will it make big diffrent by adding one of those new cards )
and any suggestion for a NEW CAD?
The Quadro is a workstation GPU for professional graphics whereas the GTX is a gaming GPU so I would choose a GTX1080 over an M4000 any day!
In a nutshell, the GTX will be much faster at rendering and has HDMI 2.0, DVI-D, and 3 x DP 1.4 ports (only 4 can be active) which will be a lot more flexible than the Quadro's 4 x DP 1.2 ports.
I ran a system with an M6000 in it for a few months, before realizing that something in the Quadro driver throttles the GPU specifically with Resolume.
We ran the Resolume Benchmark with the NVIDIA GPU monitor open and found that that usage would plateau at 33%. 4K Benchmark was somewhere around 6-7 layers. We then switched to a Titan X, and got phenomenally better performance. 4K Benchmark went to 16 layers.
I'm no expert but it might be in the way that the Quadro driver uses OpenGL is different from how Resolume does, or the GeForce driver does. It could also be that the GPU identifies Resolume as a 32-bit program and then doesn't allocate full VRAM.
All just guesses. GeForce over Quadro for Resolume every and any day of the week.
Sorry if i revive a so old post but just wanted to add my experience:
I have superior versions of both cards (1080Ti and P4000) and before i had a 1080, besides the "performance" part that everybody know with a simple test (and P4000 wins the 1080 ti by a bit), i can add that if you end is LED screens and you want synced outputs you have to go to the Quadro tier because the GTX don't allow that.
You can also add a Quadro Sync+ card to sync between different machines with more PXXXX cards.
