footage as effect

Post by rawdesigns »

curious if there is or will be a way to get a footage like simple line tracing dropped into the composition as effect. That way when triggered it wont take up a layer. very curious :?:
thanks

I actually asked for this type of thing in this thread: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=11188&start=10.

It doesn't exist yet as a feature or 3rd party plugin AFAIK. While FFGL can refer to files it's not really a done thing. This kind of facility would probably come from a 3rd party developer I reckon. (Hive8 whatever happened to your year of coding?)

I'm most interested as to *why* you would like it as an effect rather than as a layer?

Is it screen because of real estate? Controller real estate? Processing power?

organization mainly. that type of footage like line tracing is more an effect and rather act as such when I control it.

Animated masks (and other blend modes)
Shaders that need textures.
Very specific overlays that don't justify a whole clip slot.
Multiple bitmap or video elements that need separate FFT or animation.

I would say brain real-estate (as well as screen and controller).
