Footage download with Alley not working

Post by DHoude »

Has anyone had luck downloading footage with Alley? I installed the latest Alley and I am using Chrome. I also tried Edge (Win 10). Basically, I click download with Alley on my purchased footage in the store and nothing happens.

I have no active Anti Virus, I run it manually only (Malware Bytes). I have popups enabled on both browsers and I even lowered-removed download security.

Hmm, seems to work fine for me.

Which footage pack are you trying to download?

What is weird is, if I try to download individual files. I was able to get the "Planets_DXV3_4K_1.zip" set and then everything else is giving me errors. I see it uses AWS, but I can't figure out what is blocking it. I enabled Flash, updated Java, tried allowing all kinds of things in Chrome. I even updated Chrome, cleared cache. Disabled Windows Firewall.

What should need to be enabled in order for this to work?

Not sure what's going wrong. Works on my side for a while with great speed, then drops to 80kBytes.
Is that what you see too?

Individual files seem to work for me.

Do you have dropbox, maybe saving the files there would work better?

What I see is, I click on the "download with alley". My browser tab blinks like it recognizes my click and then nothing at all. I don't even see a loading link in the lower-left corner of Chrome.

I was able to save only the "Planets_DXV3_4K_1.zip" and I can't save anything else. It is like something is blocking it on my end. Which is why I have tried so many things. No luck yet though.

As far as Dropbox, I only have a free account. I don't have enough free space to get even one zip file, unfortunately. That is the only thing I have not been able to try.

I took a video of the issue happening and sent to mail at Resolume. The subject line is the same as this thread. More than willing to run tests if you have ideas.

I had Chrome version 86.something, went to check the version, it updated to 87.0.4280.67
Now the links don't work for me either.... oh Chrome, not again...

Try copying the link to the clipbard, open a new tab, and paste it in the URL box, hit Enter.
This allows me to start the downloads.

Try re-installing Alley, it should re-register as URL handler, and hopefully that will allow to download with it again.

Uninstall and reinstall of Alley fixed it! No odd tricks, I just clicked the Download with Alley link and got my popups.

Odd, wondering if Chrome updates breaks Alley downloads. I thought for sure it was some security thing. Good call and thank you for the help!

I am seeing the issue where it started downloading quickly, then dropped to about 60KB/s.

I have 4 packs queued up, at this rate it will take a day to download. Other than that my Internet speed is fine, I'm getting 100mb/s on other sites.
