irmapio advantage??

Post by CRGxxx »

Hi

I do seamless 360º seamless projection (www.igloovision.com) and am experimenting with Arena at the mo.
Arena appears to have everything I need for mapping our domes although I haven't actually mapped it yet using Resolume.

I am a little confused about Irmapio and would like to know what advantages it has over Arena's built in mapping abilities.

Many thanks

I would also like some light shed on this matter. Would there be any advantage to owning mapio if one owned arena?

Does it mean we can do mapping without purchasing Arena??
If so is it as good?? Bearing in mind I need to send 5 slices to 5 separate video outputs.

Thanks

Mapio has a few advantages:
-It can be applied to a clip, layer, or composition. Arena's mapping features can be applied to a layer or a composition.
-Mapio can be switched on/off on the fly. This allows for you to quickly switch your mapping settings around. Please correct me if I am wrong (and I hope I am) but as far as I know Arena isn't really made for this. A workaround might be to use multiple layers with different mapping settings

Mapio has a few disadvantages:
-It's a bit buggy where as Arena is rock solid
-Higher learning curve
-Not a lot of documentation

Many thanks.

I think Arena is generally best for us as all I need to to is send 5 slices to 5 video outputs.
Having trouble getting decent frame rates on a 6400 x 720 dxv mov being sent to 5 outs over 2 5770's on our mac pro's so our optimum res of 9600 x 1080 is completely out of the question.

Do you think performance may be improved on a PC with modern graphics cards??
If I can improve this I will definitely be buying Arena

Thanks again

we run 3-5 layers at 9600 x 768 comp size at around 30 frames on a win pc with advanced output enabled out to 9 screens.

so i guess it would be possible but dont hold me responsible :) .
if its for a fixed installation, i would recommend grabbing a mediaserver like the pictureall okto maybe.
