video editor for dxv

Post by damstraversaz »

Hi
first sorry for my poor english...
I'm using resolume for dance and installations , and ( as I'm first a musicien) don't know anything about video editing. All my work is realtime.
I will begin to edit some of my dxv movies, and would like to know which editor could read this format. Most of my work will be very basic, so i don't need adobe premiere for exemple !actually I'm using the the rec fonction of resolume for rendering with fx, and edit them with mpeg stream ?
thanks a lot for reading

are you mac or pc?

could you not use something like window's movie maker or imovie? if you are on mac you can get something called Final Cut Pro X - its a much simpler version of final cut pro.
Resolume Avenue 3.3.3 - MBP i7, 8gb RAM - Snow Leopard (2010). Akai APC20

Hi
I'm on windows 7. unfortunaly, windows movie maker does not load dxv format, same with vlmc , wich is a nice editor.it could be useful to have an editor wich load dxv.

DXV is not really a production codec, it's meant for playback. So you would only render your final edited movie to DXV, not edit with it.

You're better off converting it to a different codec during the editing stage. You can choose any codec your editing system is happy with.

BTW, the record function of Resolume record Photo-JPEG .mov files, not DXV .mov.

if someone is interested, Lightworks works wit the dxv format. that's really an amazing editor by the way, with some additionnals FXs from their community. and there is one free version. I will follow the advice and convert to another format most of time, but sometimes it could be useful to directly use dxv.
