sACN LED protocol

Post by yochee »

Hi there,

I have a Pixlite 16MKII controller. It supports Artnet and sACN, but the Onboard E1.31 to DMX512 output only works with sACN, not with Art-Net protocol inputs. Will there be sACN (E1.31) support anytime? For now I can only choose Artnet from the dropdown list in Resolume preferences.

thanks

Why don't you get a second adapter that can take care of your DMX needs?

Although sACN is on our radar, we don't have any plans for it yet.

A Resolume update with sACN doesnt have to be today or tomorrow. I´was just curious because I'd also like to control lights, fog and other stuff sometimes. From what I have heard/read is that Artnet and SCan are quite similiar, tho sACN seems to be more new and easy in terms of the network hardware and it doesnt use as much bandwidth as Art-Net (= more data, more fast distribution).

Being on the radar not on the list is bad :(

@Oaktown I would be glad not needing to use two adapters as that would make things more complicated. I'd need to carry more stuff and setup/connect more cables, distribute more Universes etc. Same stuff has been discussed in the madmapper forum. On the hardware side it is:

PixLite
Enttec ODE
network switch
more cables

vs:

PixLite and one ethernet cable.

BTw. if Reolume would support sACN it would also be an advantage agains Madmapper/Modul8..
