when using the animation controls of the opacity layers 1, 2 and/or 3 (none/play/bpm/etc.), return to default opacity layer settings of 100 for layer1, 50 for layer2 and 50 for layer3 (possibly return to 'alpha' too?), when stopping animation by clicking on '-' for "none".
when you stop an animation layer control by clicking on '-' for "none", it remains where it left off. if using this in the first layer, the 'off' point could be low (0-30) and thus the image not very visible.
