Master Mask

Post by movebandit »

What about a funktion to use a Bitmap as a Mask in the Master ?
I often work with round / Squared Screens and i alwas have to take my old mx12 mixer with me to do the Shaping of the output. I think it would be no problem to implement this directly in Resolume. Thinking about logo shaped Screens with perfect projection on.......

I want the same.
I'm projecting on a round screen too.
I don't use a mixer to make it round.
The circle is not exactly in front of the beamer so i use a oval black/white picture on layer 1 in combination with the Darken (da) transitsion @ 50 %.
The reason i can't use a custom mask is because you can only use a picture up to 320x240 pixels.

Yes, you can do something like this with a pic and Luma / InvLuma
1 layer is in use all evening. But i often work with 3 Layers (one more would be fine ;-) ) and dont want to use the 3rd Layer for such a simple Application.....

Hi,
I could easily make a freeframe plugin that does the master mask.
This effect could be put in the third global effect slot.
Just give me a few hours ;-)

PERFECT !
some Suggestions for the plugin:
-soft or hard edges by slider
-several masks selectable by slider
-zoom
-x-y position

ok many thiings you can do by the Graphics used for the mask, but in real Setup it would be nice to have direct access in the Plugin.

Thanx for fast response !!

O.k, had a bit of a writers block, so a took a few days ;-)
Anyway, i put a mask plugin up for download.
The zip file contains the plugin and a folder with masks, you can copy your own mask files into this directory, i added three example masks, very simple just to demonstrate the effect. You can select the masks through the first parameter and with the second you can zoom in and out.
I didn't get the x,y to work yet, well i did but is was running very slow.
Anyway, this is it for now, i'll see if i can improve it later on.

Cheers

Only works in 640x480 16-Bit mode. The example masks you made has to be inverted to work (Everything thats white in the file is masked/black in Resolume). Second effect parameter doesnt work as Zoom. It behaves like Effect Alpha slider.
Test it in 800x600.It doesn`t work. Changing the mask picture size to 800x600 doesnt help too. (I often work in this resolution)

The mask is rotated upside down by the plugin. (Try out with something like typos...)

Its a nice effect to let the masks scroll by automated slider. So what about a second slider to choose subfolders in the "theMask" folder to use different changing masks ?

But for the first Version: GREAT !
