as quartz renderers are openGL there might be a chance to attach a screen capture type of that window, hoping that render window will keep pushing frames when it does not have focus.. This type of solution should work for grabbing any render window on mac or pc (yes I am a PC VVVV guy..).

It might be better to develop two separate yet similar solutions for mac and PC. The mac side should be able to integrate QC somewhat easily and load patches like video clips similar to vdmx (that functionality is the coolest, I admit). As for PC side, something that uses buffer grabbing functions like fraps or bigFug's winampStreamingPlugin (the mem option is hella fast..), this would enable sending vvvv or processing into resolume as layer (or allow us to use both old freeframe and ffGL's so that I can use bigfug to stream vvvv into resolume3).

Eitherway great idea, tighter integration with other render windows is key. Flash isn't the only generative content creator.

I like where you're going with this, if I had a mac I'd already be on VDMX but I don't, which is why I'm here. A chance to import vvvv live would be great, I don't know if it's already possible with a capture card though, or what a delay for such a thing would be like.
you know this is very possible with resolume2 (or openTZT..) via the bigfug mem streaming, which is also nice since both apps aren't multithreaded, you can attach each process to one core and use 100% of dually all night. Also makes it easy to shut down vvvv and switch patches while mixxerAppOfChoice runs normal video clips. Too bad there isn't normal freeframe implementation in res3 or a ffgl version of bigfug streaming yet. Iv'e been using this setup for years now, audioReactive vvvv is clutch.

+1 for vvvv integration (via buffer/ mem streaming).

If you know someone who can build this then we would love to have a chat!

I don't know anyone who can do this. But as pleasuretek wrote, that there were working solutions - like bigFugs streaming plugin or Fraps. Of course the it's quite unlikely that the Fraps guys give away there source code / solutions. But maybe you can have a chat with bigFug?

(Btw. vvvv offers several ways to directly "speak" with the video buffer: http://vvvv.org/tiki-index.php?page=FAQ ... ter_DShow9_)

But anyway, this is probably not a high priority feature (at least in my case).
