Gifs? Really? Are people still doing that? Outside 4Chan I mean ;-)

Tell you what, post one cool gif that you'd like to VJ with, and we'll think about making it a feature.

Saw that one the other day and indeed had to laugh heartily. Stupid cat.

Doesn't convince me as to why this image sequence wouldn't work better as an actual video file though. The original youtube version has slightly better video quality too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bTlVhpeJiqU

Something can be said for an image sequence like that, since the hard edges and high contrast is captured quite well in Gif format. Pity OP didn't come up with something like that ;-)

All in all, animated gifs are great for being able to directly show funny clips on your Tumblr, where bandwidth is important, and image quality and a stable framerate not so much. Resolume puts quality first, and animated gifs just don't fit into that.

If you really need to use this content in a VJ set, you can convert animated gifs to .movs in a few seconds using Quicktime Pro.

How about any animated videogame sprite? Show me an alternative format for this and I’ll be happy, but I haven’t found one yet…

Would they be that difficult to support? it's not as if they use any really complex compression or anything.
