i'm looking for a solution of this issue since a long time.

when i want to record the output of my comp as dv (via firewire) the only way is outputting as s-vhs, converting to dv with my camcorder than recording via firewire on a another comp or in the camcorder.
but that's stupid, cause i'm converting a digital to a analog signal (inside the graphic card) - thus loosing quality - and than converting it back to digital (inside the camcorder).

i was initially hoping to find some kind of scan converter that has vga or dvi input and firewire output. but i've not found one yet.
If anyone does, pls tell me!

mey mfo,

this looks like an interesting option for live vga to dv encoding/ passthrough:

Just render it to the HD as 720x480 avi then use another app to output to Tape.
