Any known issues with: MSI GT73VR TITAN PRO 4K

Post by Doc_Jim »

Basically thats the question.
Anyone have any first hand experience with a setup like this? And weird issues ?
I am aware about resolume and SLI (hence no sli).

Otherwise I use a USB controller, a BM Intensity Shuttle...and will def be adding some sort of double head solution.

Thanks for any thoughts/insight!

Was wondering this myself. Looking to get a new build this week and this laptop is on my radar. I can build a rack PC for alot cheaper, but mobility would be nice...

Awesome! Very excited to see the benchmarks.

Could you list your build and benchmark results when you get a chance?

So..... after looking into a previous suggestion. I think I'm going with the Razor Blade Pro now. A bit cheaper and same GPU. Trying to get the approval to purchase this week. I'll keep you updated.

Awesome! I'm also looking into the Razer Blade Pro, would love to see some benchmark numbers. 1060 right? I'm thinking of going for the matte 1080p display. Honestly UHD with Resolume is a pain (even on 21" + monitors), I don't really don't need touch control, and it should save me some GPU power (not to mention $$$).

I don't about this specific model, but there are posts floating around here mentioning Resolume having issues with new MSI laptops. I think the Razer will be designed to interface with the GPU most efficiently. Godspeed! Can't wait to hear back.

GTX 1080

I'll be using the windows Scaling options for Resolume. But I'll be driving a nice 32" IPS for content creation so the UHD will be really nice for that.

OoOoOoh GTX1080...didn't see that model!

Just a note that Windows Scaling is mentioned in the Resolume FAQ as a common source of errors:
"My display resolutions are too small or even 0x0
This happens when your Windows Desktop Display Scaling factor is set to anything else than 100%."
Not sure if this applies but I'd be interested to hear how scaling works for you.

IPS? As in: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IPS_panel? Never heard of that, but I do love to learn! What model is your display?

Was going to use scaling on the GUI and leave the external outputs unscaled.

Correct on the IPS, Just a different type of LCD there's VA and TN types as well, each serve's a different purpose: http://www.tnpanel.com/tn-vs-ips-va/

Was personally looking at this model:

It's been over 7 years since my last hardware upgrade, so I figured it was about time to upgrade for the next decade or so....
