12 Outputs with Matrox Quadhead2go

Post by mihail »

Hi ,
I am working on a project where I need to connect 12 projectors at Full HD 1080 each to a single machine.
I am considering using 3x Matrox Quadhead2go. I read the https://resolume.com/support/en/lots-of-outputs article and it mentions that there might be some problems with this setup. Anything particular I should worry about? Anyone with experience with the Quadhead2Go please chime in.
As I understand the Quadhead2Go comes in 2 versions - an HDMI and a 1.2 Display Port for input
Here are the two versions:
https://www.matrox.com/en/video/product ... -appliance
https://www.matrox.com/en/video/product ... -appliance

Now since the the Display port version is 1.2 and all the nvidia cards since 10 series have a 1.4 display port my question is if this mismatch of versions would be a problem.
Also since it might be the case that I am only able to get the HDMI version in the given timeframe, is it possible to use a "display port to hdmi" adaptor and use 3 HDMI versions of the Matrox or will that cause a problem?
Anything else I might be neglecting as an issue?

Right now the rig I am considering for this project is:
-Intel Comet Lake-S Core i7-10700 8-cores (2.9Ghz Up to 4.80Ghz, 16MB LGA1200) 65W,
-1TB SSD
- Motherboard - GIGABYTE H470-HD3 Socket 1200,
- 32gb ram
- Fortron Power Supply HydroG PRO 750, 750W, 80+ Gold, 12cm FDB fan, Full Modular and most
and most importantly
GPU - a 20 or 30series RTX (have not setteld on which one) - Any advice on this would be welcome. Is it safe even to use a 1080ti for instance? Any other GPU suggestion is also welcome.

Best regards,
Mihail.

With a Quadro, you can get the outputs in sync.
