I've used Resolume for a number of pixel mapping projects... majority of the time we used a Mac Mini to run the show with no issues. Occasionally we have to build a custom PC but only when projection mapping is involved.
But...
I'm currently working on a project that requires 50 Artnet universes and it will run on a M1 Mac Mini (16gb mem + 10g Network). In the past we've used Arena (Intel Mac Mini), aprox. 20-30 universes max and they've all run smooth/stable for years now. My concern is that trying to push out 50 universes worth of data might cause some issues or lag. I know M1 ARM chips aren't natively supported yet but Rosetta 2 has been pretty stable for me...Can't really tell the difference between our Intel Macs & M1's. I'm more concerned about how many universes this system requires (Around 22,000 led channels in total).
Anyone have any advice or experience with an issue like this? Am I overthinking it? Any info will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
