Nice one alfaleader, you put a hell of a lot of work in this preset file!

Clip selection and button layout heavily depends on your configuration & setup, but it's good to see the workflow here - i like how you used the button lights to indicate layer opacity, great work :)

APC 4 RESOLUME a Software for AKAI APC 40 and Resolume Avenu

Post by pro.sec »

Description

This is my first evaluation of the possibilities of AKAI APC40 as controller for RESOLUME. As an promming layer CYCLING74 Max is used. The main unit is a Javascript programm called “controllerlogic.js”. Here the data is devided to control of Resolume and for viewing on the APC - visual feedaback. Bome’s MIDI Translator adds an MIDI port forpassing of the data for Resolume. At the moment CLIP LAUNCH can only be equipped with functions.

Requirements
  • AKAI APC 40
    Bomer’s Midi Translator
    Cycling74 – Max 5.1 or Max Runtime 5.1
    Resolume Avenue 3.3
    OS: Win/Mac

hi guys,

maybe somebody can help me with the following setup:
ni traktor (on apple mbp), resolume, ableton, apc40, launchpad (on win7/64 pc)

- timecode comes from traktor (midi out from ni s4-controller) ---> midi in via midinterface on vj-pc (resolume)
- akai apc40 triggers efx and clips in resolume ---> midi in via usb on vj-pc
- launchpad is connected via usb on vj-pc too
- vj-pc-internal i use midiyoke

now i want to do (only midi, no audio!):
- i want to record in ableton live (or another software) every move and switch from apc 40
- i want to edit the mididata and make some loops (for example 32 beats) in ableton (or...)
- the edited and looped patterns i want to start with the launchpad and send it to resolume

what is working:
- apc40 + launchpad directly to resolume, works like it should

whats not working:
- apc40 ---> ableton ---> resolume
i use to many parameters to re-route every single controller/note in ableton
i know, normally with ableton i ve to assign every knob and fader, but this is not working with all of them.

maybe anyone knows a better way to do that.
ableton seems not to be the perfect sollution.

i just need a timecode-syncable midi-sequencer (win 7/64), were i can record from apc40 (note/sysex/whatever) and edit all these data and start these patterns with launchpad.

i hope, someone can gimme a hint... ;)

thx in advance
p.

This is probably a long shot but I thought I'd ask anyways. Does anyone know if a clip launch button sends different information if you you hold the button down versus pushing it? just curious.

Also big thankyou to alfaleader and subvert -- your posts helped a ton!

It works that way with the squared buttons on the APC40:

When you press it it sends Note ON
When you hold it it sends nothing
When your release it it sends Note OFF

The slim Buttons (like Activators/record Arm) work like this:

When you press it once it sends Note ON
When you press it again it sends Note OFF
etc.
------------------------

And thx also alphaleader, you made a real good walkthrough of the process! ;)
yet a remark to all people new to the thread:

All you can do until now is mimicking the use of lights. The lights of the controller will never actually respond to what you do in resolume until midi out is available. You can only build walkarounds (but it sure looks damn nice ;)

Ok so theoretically, if I post my midi translator file, everyone should be able to use it right? Let's give it a try & see.

Definately watch my video before using so you know what I did

And here is a picture of my layout as well

If you read the other posts then you know what you need to make all this work. Having said that you can download my midi translator file from my website http://www.vjcozer.com/midi.php

Let me know if it works or not!
