That Midi Fighter is really cool. I like that. Completely forgot about Behringer.

Hey guys,
after reading the post from "rawdesigns" >>LINK<<...I was so inspired to design a native Resolume controller by myself.

I think you guys already know that I love controllers...sexual... so I tried to construct a controller which can be a jewel within a gear-park.

I realized that there is one big problem while designing a midi-controller for a specific software with tons of ways to handle it. "Every VJ has his unique way" ...there is no complete wrong and no complete proper way to control Resolume or any other VJ software. We are creative! Not only while making beautiful and stunning content or while mixing stuff into each other. We are also creative creating ways to present our creativity.

So I started to analyse some popular controllers and some live captured vj shows to find the main needs a vj controller for Resolume should contain to make it suitable for more than just one guy when he is -on fire-.

I also had an eye on the ergonomics. Everything has to be in the right place to guarantee a fast work-flow.
But not only the features and the design of a usable controller are important, you also have to think about all those small VJ bags out there. Not all of us are using cased server-racks and have the option to travel via truck to their gigs, so I also tried to design a comparatively small an compact controller....but now...enough of those boring words....here it is..the: Resolume RENDERRABBIT

After paying way to much for a new laptop, I would buy this in an instant without a blink of an eye....
Kickstarter funding a good idea? 8-)

*THUMBS*...

I've made some cost researches...the first fully functional controller would cost me round a bound 30.000€. The costs are so high because of all the custom parts like the screen, housing, the knobs...and the materials I would like to use. Also developing the software on controller side is quite expensive.

Not included is the time and money the Resolume guys have to spend while developing some Resolume extensions for the "renderrabbit". For example: Thumbnail exchange via USB, clipdeck scrolling via midi...or perhaps the development of a "full" native integration of this controller in their software. So it will shown up in the config-tab and let you config everything.

Kickstarter?...nice idea! But I think it will fail. Why? Because it's such a specialised hardware which only can be used with Resolume.

Greetings
cosmowe

I dont think it would fail necessarily...

you could make it play nice with multiple softwares... resolume had over a million in sales last year and as video becomes more common place so will its users, ease of use has made it a standard in corporate and live events... i have even seen it in production and broadcast...

I think 30k is a reasonable number to expect from kickstarter... I would pay 1-3k for a well made product if it was going to enhance my shows... I am pretty certian there are at least 30 others like me... the initial unit would be wildly expensive... but I have a feeling it would be a popular item should someone decide to make the leap...

Kickstarter requires a working prototype at minimum. Rendered photos and simulations do not meet guidelines.
These boards work well for development of custom controllers.

good luck.
