PCI bus and BlackMagic devices

Post by karamasov »

Hi, I have an Intensity Pro + a Decklink Extreme 3D installed in my MacPro 1.1 2x2.6 DualCore. Can it be that the PCI bus doesn´t have enough power to capture HD streams via HDMI from both? I get lag, choppy pictures, frame drops, tearing, all sorts of trouble, when both cards are in use.

A MacPro has a server MoBo, and they usually have lots of PCI bandwidth, but your machine is fairly old..

I have two HD capture devices in my windows machine, and I made sure to put them on separate PCI lanes, 1x each, and it works fine.

I wonder if your MoBo doesn't have enough capacity to share the bandwidth it has, do you know any specs of your MoBo? such as are your PCEe slots 2x

there are also Problems with BM sdi cards and new macpro's....
it really depends on the slots you use, may try another configuration/combination.
normally this is a osx problem.
does the Cards work in Final Cut or other supported Software?

Thanks for the info! Will try to (learn about and) check MoBo and PCI lane config etc.

Cheers,
