I'd be interested in hearing some feedback as well. Especially how well it behaves on a MBP Retina. If someone has this set up, please get back with some info (latency, quality,...)
I am still waiting for the UltraStudio Mini to arrive, latency due to the recent storm along the east coast of the US. I did however manage to get an UltraStudio 3D model. it is $$$ http://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/ultrastudio3d/
Resolume Arena likes it very well minus the output feature.
I would be very cautious about this device. We don't have experience with it yet either, but notice that the UltraStudio Express is mentioned as *capture and playback* device, while the Mini Recorder is referred to as a *recorder* (like the H264 USB Recorder dongle, which does not work with 3rd party apps).
I am still waiting on the mini for testing. It is on backorder.
The Express and 3D Ultra work well...links above.
Display Output does not work in Resolume.
On their Ultrastudio product page (which includes the mini recorder) they literally state that "UltraStudio is fully compatible with your favorite software." AND "VJ use supports Resolume Avenue 4". The don't seem to make a difference between the mini/express/4K versions.
Hey guys, I emailed BMD with the following question:
"Hello, on the Ultrastudio product page it is stated that the VJ software Resolume is supported. Before I order one I would just want to make sure if that includes the "Mini Recorder" version in the Ultrastudio line up. Have you tested it as well?"
And got this reply today:
"Hi Nils,
Thanks for contacting Blackmagic Support.
The applications that are listed on that page will be supported by the entire UltraStudio family. We have not tested it in this particular office, however if it is stated on the product page, then it will be supported.
I hope this has helped.

Just thought I'd let you know. If someone gets some hands-on time, please share your experience.
