PC friendly DXV

Post by Eyebyte »

Hi,
Could you make the DXV codec a little more PC friendly? We need to view DXV files in Windows Media Player. I know its a quicktime codec, but quicktime and windows were never friends. WMP can play most QT codecs, why not DXV? Perhaps then we can view thumbnails of videos in a directory.

The workaround at the moment is use Adobe Bridge or Quicktime player for windows (Ugh!). Both of which give me sad pants.

There's not a lot we can do about this. DXV is a native Quicktime codec, meaning that any application that supports Quicktime will be able to display it.

Your question should be directed at Windows, asking them to support Quicktime natively in Windows Media Player. I don't give you much change there though, unfortunately.

Agree with Eyebyte a bit. Just quickly going through your clips is quite a pain on a pc. I in fact use Arena most of the time .. as a media player..
For my personal workflow it would be super helpful to be able to watch DVX quicktimes in VLC player. This would be huge step forward in terms of convenience.
bests,

I agree with guys, DXV is not friendly in Windows, i cant look thumbnails using standard Windows tools and also cant look footages with my favorites media players, only with Quick Time. I think, what DXV can be a little friendly for PC users.

I use adobe bridge. You can preview all the clips and sort them pretty effectively.

Adobe Bridge CC (v6.0.1.6) on Mavericks 10.9.1 is very buggy and will crash on large directories of DXV files. Of course, everything video-related on Mavericks buggy...
