I just downloaded the demo for Res 6 to see if it's worth upgrading.
Straight away I find a bug!
Clips with the volume set to -40db are still audible...
Which slider are you using?
Every Audio Volume slider I checked goes to -48, and at the minimum position it mutes the audio.
You can also remove the audio track form a clip if that's what you want by clicking the X button in the Audio track properties.

I'm using the individual clip volume and it only goes to -40 as you can see on the screen grab.
Deleting the audio is not an option for a number of reasons too long to explain here

Is this an old Resolume 5 composition you opened? if so could you please attach it?

Looks like all Audio tracks that have a volume set other than 0 dB in a Resolume 5 composition, get the minimum volume level set to -40 dB
and when you open this composition in Resolume 6, you can't make the clip volume lower than -40.
I created a ticket. #11026
In the meantime if you drop the same file to the clip slot, the ranges should reset, while keeping other settings.
