can any one suggest me which external drive should i buy. it must be credible.
Been using a custom build drives. Buy an m.2 board and an enclosure. Best performance and bang for buck.
Has been great through the years of use. I have a handful of them
USB3 tops out at 640MBps and sata SSD's hit around 550MBps, so you're 90MBps short of hitting your bottleneck.
Grabbing a m.2 which has read speeds around 3,200MBps (About 32Gbps) is well over the 640MBps bottleneck. That's 2,560MBps that's un-used.
Thunderbolt 3 40Gbps (or 5,000MBps) would be the only external interface currently available to have a big enough tube to get 3,200MBps.
Here's what's wild!!! A Superior SSD, the M.2, is $140 CHEAPER than the slower sata SSD.... I'm still shaking my head in confusion on this.
And is only $50 more than a USB C external (same speed as the sata SSD)
For that price, going with the M.2 enclosure is the way to go! Especially if you want to future proof yourself. You can always transfer the M.2 from the USB3 enclosure to the Thunderbolt 3 enclosures down the road if you upgrade your computer.
Great suggestion cvanhoose
