One Media server and 6 (+1) output

Post by crv74 »

Hi there, i've done a bit of research but i can't find anything clear.

How or what would be the best way, involving budget also, to get 6 display outputs (full HD) + The control monitor (7 in total) from a 1080TI or a P4000 graphics card on o a Media server (i have both), because they only have 4 connectors (2 HDMI + 2DP the 1080Ti, and 4 DP the P4000).

The "show" is a mapping on some arches, 3 projectors on one side and 3 on the opposite.

Would a MST 1x4 work for that?

(i mean a gadget like this one: https://www.amazon.es/StarTech-com-MSTD ... 3e406&th=1)

For the price maybe i can give it a try.

Any other options are welcome.

Thanks in advance, Carles

Projectors would need to be in sync correct? I think everyone here would suggest 2x datapaths for that.

The Quadro P4000 already does that (sync).

Any ideas?

Thanks

MST hub won’t get you any more displays, just more ports...

Best bet is to use the nice powerful 1080 card to feed a couple of datapath X4 or FX4 and your program monitor.

The p4000 wont have enough outputs so you will need some datapaths either way. Might as well get the 1080 as I see more people lean towards the gtx cards vs the quadro cards. I have the 1070 and it runs like a champ.

you can try getting a matrox triple head to go and using 1 displayport of the graphics card to get 3 displayports into your projectors
not sure what resolution your working at but you have to make sure the graphics card can give you enough pixels

And so is waht i am asking: outputs, not resolutions or screens...

Since seems that here everyone using GTX towards Quadro seems that never "needed" the sync on screens, that is very ok if you are using separate beamers or led / screens, that issue affects a lot when you are making a high resolution screen that is 8K for example...

Anyway the topic wasn't that, and the 1 DP to 3 HDMI seems a good option to get 3+3+1+1 Outputs from a single graphics cards, GTX or Quadro, and the max resolution that they can handle are 4x4K so that is not an issue since I'll be playing with 6 Full HD + the control monitor that can be either Full HD or 4K.

Thanks for taking the time to give an answer.

1080ti Maximum Digital Resolution is 7680x4320/60. Datapath FX4 is 2160p/60 or equivalent up to 616MP/s

So, to keep your eight projectors in sync, you could use (2) FX4 and do one 8K output (7680x2160/30) from one of the DP output by limiting to /30 (for the FX4) and using the passthrough DP port on the first FX4.

What you’ll get with the 1DP to 3 HDMI is more sockets.... not more outputs! You wouldn’t be able to use more than four sockets to drive displays at once.

To drive six displays plus a control monitor you will need an output expander as explained by Oaktown.

Hi there,

finally the gig was made with 2x Datapath FX4 each one fed by a 4K DP out an went flawless.
(it was a budget issue, but it was solved)

Thanks for all the inputs and ideas to get it.
