Launchpad Mk2 MIDI velocity

Post by roxwindy »

Hi there,

I've acquired a Launchpad MK2 and there's a huge variety of colors(0~127) to output the MIDI LED feedback on the launchpad, but is there a possibility of allowing the LED to blink on the launchpad?
Or is this only an Ableton thing?

Thanks!

Ableton does this on my APC 40 by sending the note feedback also on a different channel.
I guess that's how the launchpad works also.

You can trick your controller into this mode with Resolume by
duplicating your clip launch shortcut, and
on the shortcut on the right(top in the list), setting Connected state velocity to a different color, and
setting the Channel to 11 for example.

For an effect bypass it can work similarly. These have an On and an Off state. On state is sent when an effect bypass is On, so the effect is disabled.
If you'd like the button on your controller to blink when an effect is On, (bypass is Off), you'd map your controller button to the effect bypass, set the Velocity for the On and Off Status to the base color you'd like for them.
Then, duplicate the shortcut, select the shortcut that's the upper one in the shortcuts panel list.
Set it's channel to 11 (slow pulse) for example, and set the Off Status Velocity to a different color value.
If you exit shortcut editing the button should blink if the effect is unbypassed.

Hey,

I just tried duplicating the shortcut but it doesn't seem to be able to blink no matter what colors I change them to. I tried to map it for A and B for the crossfader feature for a layer so that I know whether it is active on A or B if it can blink. I made sure both shortcuts were on different channels but it doesn't seem to work.

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong...

The crossfader assignment is actually a 2 option button group, so not sure yet how that could work with a single button.

Did you get it working with the effect bypass?

Hey there,

I was actually referring to this part about the crossfader.

I can't seem to find out how enable bypass, I do notice some of my shortcuts have bypass and some do not have it. Still can't seem to figure this one out...

This crossfader assignment buttons have 3 states,
A and B disabled,
A enabled, B disabled,
B enabled, A disabled.

This can be mapped to a single shortcut to Select Next item, which would cycle through the options, but a single shortcut for this particular item, can't give you currently 3 different velocity outputs.
You'd need at least 2 buttons and shortcuts.
