Does Prores to DXV increase performance

Post by puzekatt1 »

Noobie question here:
I read and understand that dxv is the preferred codec. But it also says that prores is played back in a similar manner. Say I have a lot of prores files, is it worth it converting them all to dxv for a show if I have the time?
Thanks <3

If you only need to play a few layers, and the performance is good enough, I'd keep the files prores.
DXV is GPU decode, prores is CPU.

How about MacBook Pro M1 or higher? What is better DXV or Prores?
