Performance optimisation question

Post by Cursor Video »

Hi all,

Just curious really while I go about building an upcoming show - does it make any difference in performance between having multiple decks or all your clips in one deck? Say if it equaled the same total number of clips?

I have setup a Novation Launchpad X to have one page mapped to clip launching and figured it would be nice to have show built on lots of decks each matching the same controller page, just concerned it'll get bogged down.

Will test this myself but not got much time ahead of this gig so it'd be good to know if it's going to be a waste of time!

Cheers

Jamie

Loading more clips in a deck will use more memory but make deck load slower.

Hi Zoltan,

Thanks for your reply, sorry but I'm not quite sure which is better then, am I better off with 10 decks that have 64 clips in each (8x8) than with 1 deck that has 640?

If you have lots of RAM and time to wait for the deck to load, one deck is better.
