Issues with dark images via WebCam Input

Post by The Kielb »

We are running a live stream with 4 cameras using a Blackmagic ATEM SDI Iso Pro switcher.

The setup looks like this:

Blackmagic Micro Studio Camera 4K G1 with Panasonic 35-100mm f2.8 and VideoAssist 12G 5" (@ FOH position)
into
ATEM SDI Iso Pro via USB-C
into
MacBook Pro M4 Pro
into
Resolume Arena as a webcam source
into
Novastar LED Controller connected via Cat6
into
a 5.0x2.5m LED wall

Generally, the camera feeds in Resolume appear significantly darker than in the ATEM’s MultiView. Specifically, the signal loses quality when passed through USB-C into Resolume. I was wondering if there’s any way to adjust the webcam input in Resolume, or if there are other methods to correct the image.

This is especially noticeable with one camera — actually, the highest-quality one — a Blackmagic Micro Studio 4K G1. I’ve attached an example image to illustrate the difference in brightness and quality. You see the MultiView of the Atem Switcher on the right and on the left the live feed via usb-c into Arena.

I’d appreciate any tips or advice you can offer!

Thanks in advance!

There are a lot of variables in that chain but I think the first thing you need to check is the colour range/profile of the usb output settings of the blackmagic.
Second thing to check is the colour profile/output from the camera, is it the same colour profile all the way through the chain, including what your mac screen is set to display and then what your led processor is receiving?

This explains it more clearly: https://youtu.be/wy4_ORwEcNY?si=iNsBATqd9lBQg6y6
You could make a workaround by using OBS to NDI
